Met Eireann issues four-day weather alert as storms to crush Ireland

Met Eireann has issued a nationwide weather advisory with stormy conditions set for Halloween.

With two separate weather advisories already in place, the national forecaster is now alerting the public to a “vigorous” weather system heading towards Ireland.

It states that: “There will be very unstable weather on Halloween weekend as a number of vigorous Atlantic weather systems will pass near Ireland. Heavy rains will cause surface and river flooding.

“Very windy / stormy at times with some severe and damaging gusts possible. Some coastal flooding is possible also due to the combination of low pressure, high tides and overland winds. Very high seas.”

The notice was issued at 10 a.m. M. From Thursday, October 29 and will be in effect from 9 p.m. M. From Friday October 30 until 6 p.m. M. From Monday, November 2.

Apart from this, the public is also advised to check the warnings of their local country daily.

Regarding the above mentioned weather advisories, there is a yellow state rain advisory for Connacht, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry, and Limerick.

Residents in those 10 counties can expect to see heavy and persistent rains overnight starting Wednesday. Sadly, these wet conditions are expected to last until Friday morning, where they will lead to some flooding and disruptions.

Elsewhere, there is a yellow state wind advisory for Galway and May with strong southwesterly winds arriving on Thursday. For those who live in the west, expect to see average speeds of 55 to 65 km / h and gusts of 100 km / h.

In terms of the overall forecast, it is expected to be a dreary and wet Halloween weekend with unstable and stormy conditions throughout.
