The mother of a family killed in an alleged ‘murder-suicide’ ran to a friend’s house to raise the alarm after the horrific triple shooting.

The mother, Ann, is believed to have no mobile phone, so she ran to a neighbor around 6:30 am during the dispute between her husband and two children at the farm in Kanturk, north of Cork.

The mother, believed to be in her 60s and battling an ongoing health problem, escaped from the rural property and ran ‘a bit’ to seek help.

Gardai [Irish Police] Yesterday morning they were alerted that three men were inside the house and one could have suffered gunshot wounds.

The tragedy ultimately claimed the lives of Timothy ‘Tadhg’ O’Sullivan, 59, and his sons Mark, 25, and Diarmuid, 23.

The body of one of the sons was reportedly found in a bedroom inside the house, while the father and the other son were found on adjoining land.

All three had been fatally shot.

Their deaths are alleged to be related to a disagreement over family inheritance, CorkBeo reports.

Local sources have told CorkBeo that the family was already under severe strain due to a serious illness affecting a family member.

Gardai is understood to have been aware of firearms in legal possession at the home, which is relatively isolated and surrounded by land that is popular with local gun clubs.

Local Councilman John Paul O’Shea said: “Everyone is deeply saddened and shocked by this tragedy.

“My thoughts are with the family and the wider community of Castlemagner and Kanturk as they come to terms with this unimaginable loss.
