A father and two sons were killed in a shooting on a farm in Co Cork.

It happened on a farm on the outskirts of Kanturk, in the north of the county.

The body of one of the sons was found in a bedroom of the house. The bodies of his brother and father were found in a field half a kilometer away.

The men are 22, 25 and 59 years old. All three had gunshot wounds.

Two rifles and a shotgun were found at the scene.

The Garda Technical Office heads to the scene from Dublin.

The services of the Associate State Pathologist, Dr. Margot Bolster, have been requested.

The alarm went off around 7 a.m. this morning when a woman in her 60s came to a neighbor’s home in distress and said there had been a shooting at the family home.

The local gardaí and emergency services went to the cottage in Raheen, on the outskirts of Kanturk, north of Cork, and called for reinforcements.

Members of the Armed Response Unit from the southern region were among the first to respond.

Two cordons were placed, one around the isolated farm and one on the roads leading to and from the city, per protocols in incidents like this.

They were later joined by a unit from the Dublin Emergency Response Unit who arrived in the city in an Air Corps helicopter.

Garda negotiators were also on site in case they were needed.

An HSE medical intervention team, which included two doctors and two paramedics, was also flown to the scene by the Dublin-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 116.

An assessment of the house was made and the decision was made to enter just before 12:30.

The scene has been sealed.

A family liaison officer has been appointed and an incident room has been established at Kanturk Garda station.

Gardaí says they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this time.
