One expert says it is very positive that the coronavirus figures are lower than they have been in recent weeks.
There are 859 new cases of Covid-19, slightly more than the 777 infections on Friday.
Four more patients with the virus have died and 62 percent of new cases are under 45 years old.
Anthony Staines, a professor of health systems at DCU, believes that people may be changing their behavior for the better:
“There may be a change there, I think people have started to realize that some behaviors, which seem natural and innocuous, are actually quite dangerous.
“There have been a number of games, for example after the GAA games, one in Galway and a couple in Cavan, which has led to a significant increase in cases.
“I think the message has been spread that these parties are not safe and some of them turn into high-profile events.”
County celebrations
Earlier this month, Moycullen GAA announced that several players had tested positive for Covid-19 after celebrating their final county victory.
Meanwhile, the Blackrock GAA club in Cork came under fire for holding celebrations without masks or social distancing after their final win in the county.
There are currently 295 people in the hospital with Covid-19 this morning and another 37 people in the ICU.
Overall, there have been 56,108 confirmed cases of the virus in the Republic and 1,882 deaths related to Covid-19.
