WITH MANY DOORS closed across the country, the usual shopping spree in the weeks (and even months) before Christmas will be a little different this year.
Under Tier 5 restrictions that will remain in effect nationwide through December 1, non-essential retail stores must close.
However, with click-and-cash options available and stores offering online delivery, there are plenty of ways to shop locally and from Irish-owned businesses if you want this Christmas.
Guaranteed Irish
Guaranteed Irish launched a new website this week called Guaranteedirishgifts.ie, which is a one-stop shop for hundreds of Irish businesses across the country.
Guaranteed Irish is a group of members of over 1200 companies based in Ireland.
Their gift directory site has sections for all kinds of products, from textiles and beauty to artisan food and beverages.
There are sections for children, men and women and also options for corporate gifts for employers to choose from.
The group said this site provides “a collective showcase” for people looking to buy Irish goods.
“This global pandemic has forced companies that have put off e-commerce to go online in order to survive,” said Brid O’Connell, CEO of Guaranteed Irish.
He encouraged businesses to seek other business help and support services to “help them get involved online.”
Just buy irish
Justbuyirish.com is another directory with hundreds of independent Irish producers delivering to homes across the country.
There are also many different sections to choose from here, from alcohol and books to home and design.
This is a great place to find something a little different, with deals like board games, unique prints, and jewelry available to buy.
