Galway Bay fm newsroom – The median age of COVID-19 cases in Galway is the youngest in the country by a significant margin.

CSO figures also show that the number of Covid-19 cases confirmed in Galway each week, which are related to outbreaks, has quadrupled in the last month.

Overall, 1,743 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Galway to date, with an average age of 26 years.

That’s the lowest in the country by a considerable margin, with Limerick at 35 and Sligo and Waterford at 37.

The highest figure is in May, with an average age of 47 years.

Meanwhile, there has also been a large increase in the number of weekly cases in Galway that are related to outbreaks of the virus.

During the week ending Sept. 18, 43 new cases were identified across the county as linked to an outbreak.

By October 16, that number had risen to 178 confirmed cases related to outbreaks in Galway over the course of the week.

During that time, there has also been an increase of more than 600 percent in the total number of confirmed cases that are reported in Galway each week.
