Gardai seized a staggering amount of cannabis worth an estimated € 7 million this afternoon
A whopping 352kg of cannabis herb was discovered in a shipping container in Dublin Port.
Gardai says the container arrived in Ireland from Spain.
Three men aged 31, 47 and 49 were arrested following the mass seizure and are being detained in accordance with the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996 at Garda stations in Dublin City.
Searches continue throughout the day, and Gardai says investigations continue.
A Garda spokesperson said: “As part of routine profiling, customs officials and An Garda Síochána members attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organized Crime Office (GNDOCB) conducted a joint operation which resulted in the seizure of 352 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of more than 7 million euros.
“The illegal drugs arrived in a container from Spain through the port of Dublin.
“Three men aged 31, 47 and 49 were subsequently arrested by the Gardaí and are currently being detained in accordance with the provisions of Article 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996 at Garda stations in the city from Dublin Searches continue throughout the afternoon and investigations are ongoing.
