Shopping closed in Ireland: Rules for Lidl, Aldi, Tesco, Supervalu, Dunnes and more Dublin stores during Level 5

[ad_1]

While most businesses will close their stores beginning October 22, some stores may remain open, including supermarkets and nonessential stores.

Dublin Live has analyzed what measures will be implemented during the next six weeks in these stores.

The government recommends that people try to shop at the quieter times of the day.

People are asked to keep two meters from each other as much as possible.

They are also asking family, friends and volunteers to collect food and medicine for elderly and vulnerable shoppers.

Here is everything you need to know:

Aldi

Whenever possible and to help with social distancing, Aldi is encouraging all customers to try to reduce the number of family members they bring into our stores.

Following the government’s advice on social distancing, the following measures have been implemented in its 142 stores:

• A phased entry system that is strictly managed.

• Clear markers show how much space customers must keep when queuing to enter stores.

• Clean the protective screens in each box.

• A self-service cleaning station at the entrance to stores for cleaning both trolleys and baskets.

• Hand sanitizer for customers at the entrance of stores.

• Our colleagues have hand sanitizer, gloves and masks in store and warehouse.

Tesco Ireland

Tesco has told customers there is no need to “change their normal shopping habits” in the coming weeks, despite the introduction of new Level Five restrictions in Ireland.

The supermarket expects to use a whopping 13,500 liters of hand sanitizer over the next six weeks, among a host of other measures to ensure public safety amid the new Level Five restrictions.

Starting tomorrow, Ireland will adopt tough new restrictions designed to combat the spread of Covid-19.

And Tesco Ireland CEO Kari Daniels has said that customer safety is “our number one priority” as the shop moves to implement new security protocols.

New queue management technology has been rolled out in stores across the country in an attempt to reduce wait times and support social distancing efforts.

And there are also improved hand sanitizing stations, along with new scanning technology to help customers shop faster and more efficiently.

With the weather likely to deteriorate in the coming months as we approach winter, Tesco has also assured its customers that it will take steps to protect them from the elements.

Kari Daniels, CEO of Tesco Ireland, said today: “We know that this is a time of anxiety for the most vulnerable as we move to level 5 restrictions.

“Customers can rest assured that if they need to travel beyond their 5 km radius to purchase food according to Level 5 guidelines, their safety is our number one priority, as it has been since this pandemic emerged in March.

“We are always looking for ways to improve the customer experience by following public health guidelines as they evolve.

“Customers have responded very well to changes in stores to date and would anticipate that they will continue to do so as we move into the winter months.

“We have a strong and resilient supply chain with very good availability, so there is no need for customers to change their normal buying habits.”

Lidl Ireland

Lidl Ireland is introducing a new queue management system in stores in Ireland.

This automated system is designed to control the number of customers entering and leaving the store at any time with easy-to-see traffic lights.

This is just one of the many measures they have tried and implemented in recent weeks to maintain social distancing in the store and ensure that customers and teams are as protected as possible.

They have also introduced some of these measures in stores recently:

• Plexiglass screens in the checkout area

• New signage showing how to socially distance yourself from other shoppers

• Mobile hand sanitizers for customer use

• Greater security presence

Dunnes Stores

In addition to their standard cleaning program, each Dunnes store has a ‘cleaning station’ where customers can use an antibacterial spray to clean their own carts or basket handles if they wish.

Gloves and masks have been made available to staff.

However, they continue to recommend the HSE guidelines of washing hands every 30 minutes as one of the most important measures to stop the spread of the Covid 19 coronavirus.

  • A comprehensive social distancing program has been implemented in all stores. This has been designed to make it easier for clients to maintain the recommended distance.
  • Plastic protective screens are installed in stores in boxes and kiosks with a belt
  • Hand sanitizer is available in all of our stores for customers and store equipment.
  • Since the Covid 19 coronavirus outbreak, Dunnes Stores has been in regular contact with the HSE, using their signs at all of our stores to reinforce behaviors and keep everyone safe.

Supervalu

They have a variety of preventative measures in their 223 SuperValu stores to stop the spread of COVID 19.

Supervalu has implemented weighted cleaning and disinfection protocols, with shopping carts and basket handles as preventive measures. Please observe the instructions given in the store on the tannoy or as indicated by the signage.

They ask the client to

  • Sanitize your hands when entering.
  • At peak times, they will need to limit the number of people entering the store.
  • Buy what you need, we are restocking every day
  • Use contactless or card payments whenever possible – the contactless threshold has been raised to € 50
  • Coughing or sneezing into your elbow
