Here’s how RSA driving services and NCT services are affected at Level 5

DRIVER THEORY TESTS will be suspended for six weeks in light of Covid-19 Level 5 restrictions.

However, some other services of the Road Safety Authority (RSA) have been classified by the government as essential at Level 5.

Here is a breakdown of how RSA services will be affected during the new restrictions, which take effect at midnight …

Driving test

Individuals can attend their scheduled driving test appointment as long as they are an essential worker involved in providing essential services or essential retail.

The RSA said it does not have details identifying the employment status of any clients among those who have been given an exam date to take a driving test for the next six weeks. As a result, you will not cancel any existing scheduled driving tests.

“It is up to each individual with a driving test date to make sure they are involved in the delivery of an essential service or an essential retail outlet,” RSA said.

Non-essential workers are asked to cancel their appointment online.

Essential workers who have an appointment for a driving test within the next six weeks should attend as normal.

Anyone traveling to a driving test center to take a driving test, and is an essential worker, is exempt from Level 5 travel restrictions.

National Driver License Service (NDLS)

Essential workers can attend an appointment at an NDLS facility for the next six weeks.

Again, RSA does not have details identifying the employment status of any clients among those who have a reservation at an NDLS facility for the next six weeks, therefore it does not cancel any existing client reservations.

Essential workers who have an appointment at an NDLS facility for the next six weeks should attend as normal.

Anyone traveling to an NDLS facility to apply for or renew their driver’s license or learner’s permit and is an essential worker is exempt from Level 5 travel restrictions.

People who have reservations and are non-essential workers must cancel at www.ndls.ie.

Driver theory test

The government has not classified the Driver Theory Test as an essential service.

As a result, RSA suspends service provision in light of Level 5 restrictions.

All driver theory tests will be suspended after the conclusion of today’s last test for a period of six weeks.

Candidates who have a driver’s theory test scheduled until November 30 will be contacted to notify them that their test will be rescheduled free of charge when service resumes.
