Tánaiste Leo Varadkar was confused about when the country would enter its second national lockdown at tonight’s press conference.
When journalists asked him when exactly the companies would close, he said it would be midnight on October 21 this Wednesday.
“It’s midnight on Wednesday October 21, so it’s Tuesday night and Wednesday morning … isn’t it?” He said and turned to his right, looking at the Taoiseach and Transport Minister Eamon Ryan for confirmation.
Then he clarified that it would be midnight on Wednesday, until Thursday, October 22.

“So Wednesday goes to Thursday? Okay, I always thought midnight was the day, but anyway, ”he said.
“So I correct myself.
“So not tomorrow, but the day after tomorrow. Although some in practice, they can of course [close tomorrow]”.
