Met Eireann is forecasting a horrible week in Ireland with multiple weather warnings and advisories.

Weather chiefs have placed the entire country under a yellow warning for Monday with torrential rains that can lead to flash floods.

The warning began at midnight and will remain in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

A forecaster for Met Eireann said: “Persistent and occasionally heavy rain bands will cross the country from Sunday night to Tuesday night.

“While some areas will remain below warning levels, there is a risk of localized point flooding with an increased risk of flash flooding in mountainous regions where accumulations are expected to be highest.

“This warning will be revised and may be raised in future updates to reflect the evolution of the situation.”

Members of the public are caught in a torrential downpour on Parkgate Street in Dublin.

There is also a Yellow Gale Status Warning and a Small Craft Warning.

While during the weekend a weather warning was issued for the entire week.

A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “Conditions turned unstable at the end of the weekend, with a period of very wet and sometimes windy weather on Monday and Tuesday.

“Persistent and abundant rains at the local level, coupled with high levels of soil saturation, carry the risk of flooding on the river and the surface. Unusually high tides combined with strong winds give a high risk of coastal flooding. The warnings will be broadcast on Sunday. “

And today and tomorrow we are likely to see torrential rains, flash floods, and even thunderstorms.

The forecaster added: “Today will be a rainy and windy day with outbreaks of rain spreading north over the country.

“The rain will intensify in some areas at risk of localized flooding, especially in the southwest, west and northwest, with an increased risk of flash floods in mountainous regions.

“Higher temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in cool to strong winds from south to southeast.

“More episodes of heavy rain are spreading north over the country tonight with a continuing risk of localized flooding.”

“The rain will naturally become rainier later in the evening with some clear periods developing. Windy in the southern coastal counties with gales along the coasts. Lower temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

“Tomorrow Tuesday will be a windy day with torrential rains that will spread throughout the country. More heavy downpours are expected with isolated storms and risk of localized flooding.

“Higher temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees. Strong and gusty winds from the south or southwest carry the risk of coastal flooding in some areas.”
