Met Éireann has issued a yellow rain status warning for Ireland this Sunday morning.
The warning will go into effect at midnight tonight, and will be in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday, and will affect all counties on the island except Antrim.
“Persistent and occasionally heavy rain bands will cross the country from Sunday night through Tuesday night,” Met Eireann said.
“While some areas will remain below warning levels, there is a risk of localized point flooding with an increased risk of flash flooding in mountainous regions where accumulations are expected to be highest.”
In addition, they stated that this warning will be reviewed and “may be raised in future updates to reflect the evolution of the situation.
We will keep you informed if the situation changes.
In Cork today it will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain overnight.
“Higher temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees with light to moderate south-southeast breezes,” Met Eireann said.
“It will be cloudy tonight, with spotty light rain or drizzle at first. More persistent rains will move southwest from Munster overnight and spread northeast to all areas, sometimes heavy.
“Lower temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with refreshing winds from the south, which become strong near the coast.”
As for Monday, Met Eireann describes it as “cloudy, humid and windy.”
They warn of “heavy and persistent rains that will affect most of Munster during the morning and early afternoon. There will be some drier intervals later in the afternoon, but persistent rain will move from the southwest at night, getting strong again at times.
“There will be a breeze with fresh winds from the south, strong near the coast. The highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees.”
