Passenger hands over bag after Gardai noticed ‘strong smell’ during Covid check on bus in North Cork

A bus passenger in North Cork delivered drugs after a gardai had a “strong odor” while being searched by a Covid.

A file was sent to the DPP after the Operation Fannacht checkpoint in Cherleville, where officers seized the drugs while conducting an inspection on the bus.

The guards came aboard before noticing a “strong smell”; they then spoke to a passenger and were soon handed a bag.

They said: “While conducting a #OperationFannacht checkpoint in Charleville, Gardaí conducted an inspection of a bus.

“While on the bus, Gardaí detected a strong suspicious cannabis smell.

“When speaking to a passenger, he handed over € 820 of alleged cannabis to Gardaí.

“File to be prepared for the DPP”.
