The Dublin native sadly passed away in 1986 at the age of 36 when his two daughters were very young.

The rock star immortalized his love for his two girls in beautiful songs and they talked about them on tonight’s show.

Sarah said: “We both feel like they are love songs, they basically fill you with love and family every time you listen to them.

Cathleen added: “And her wicked sense of humor with the last line of ‘Now shut up and go to bed,’ which my daughter thinks is a lot of fun and uses herself when it’s time to go to bed.”

ROCKSTAR DAD

Sarah even revealed that many people approached her to tell her that they were named after her song.

She said, “Definitely some Sarahs came up to me and told me they named me after your song.”

The two women also shared some of the beautiful memories they have of their father when they were younger.

Sarah recalled: “He was very funny and playful.

“He would grab both of us by each hand and swing us and always bump into each other and we freaked out and then we wanted to do it again.”

While Cathleen said: “I don’t have so many memories.

“I have some bums that don’t feel almost tangible the more I think about them I feel like they’re not there.

GOOD MEMORIES

“In the car he had a Mercedes with a blue fade on the front windshield and he just looked back and controlled us.

“That’s mine, it’s more of a feeling.”

They both agreed that he was extremely proud to be Irish and that he wanted his two daughters to be born in Ireland.

Sarah said: “I was tremendously proud to be Irish and wanted us to be born there.

“That’s something that Mom plays in the movie. That wasn’t even a choice which was the way it was going to be.”

“He used to say that when I was not in Ireland, he said I’m from Ireland and he was in Ireland, he said I’m from Dublin.”

‘PROUD IRISH BLACK MAN’

Cathleen added: “He was a very proud black Irish man. He forged his own path.”

They grew up listening to their father, but Sarah admitted that it was difficult for her to listen to his songs when she was younger.

She explained, “All the time throughout our lives we both listened to it and I think definitely for me when I was younger there would be times when it was very painful to do that.”

RTE viewers praised the two daughters for the interview with Ryan while flooding Twitter with praise.

Twitter user Graham tweeted saying, “Phil Lynott’s daughters seem like really nice people.”

Ann said: “The daughters of the late Phil Lynnot are as beautiful as his songs about them.”

Donal commented, “Beautiful vibes from the girls in this Lynnott interview. Very refreshing.”

While Marianne also tweeted saying, “Lovely talk with Phil Lynott’s daughters and great, she managed to rank amongst them!

“Followed by a moving performance of” Dancing in the Moonlight. “Good times.”
