A GUNMAN believed to be wearing a bulletproof vest was shot and killed by police near Paris after he allegedly beheaded a school teacher with a knife.

The victim was said to be a history teacher who previously angered parents by showing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad to students.

The suspected terrorist, who is said to have shouted Allahu Akbar at the time, was an 18-year-old Chechen born in Moscow.

It was believed that he was furious that the cartoons had been shown to the children.

A source told Le Parisien: “The victim had recently taught his students a lesson on freedom of expression and had shown the cartoons of Muhammad.”

This prompted a father to confront the teacher with a kitchen knife before cutting off his head, according to reports, the source said.

The first bloodbath took place on Friday near a school in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, a suburb about 40 miles from the center of the French capital.

French counterterrorism prosecutors confirmed that they were investigating an attack in which a man was beheaded on the outskirts of Paris.

An investigating source said: “The body of a decapitated man was found around 5.30 in the afternoon.”

“When the police arrived, the alleged perpetrator was still present and threatened them with his weapons.”

‘WAVING A GUN’

The unidentified killer is said to have fled to the nearby town of Eragny-sur-Oise, some two miles away, where he refused to surrender.

“At the time he was brandishing a gun and threatened the officers,” the source said.

“That was when the police shot him dead. About ten shots were heard.”

Counterterrorism prosecutors immediately began investigating the incident, the source said, adding that the attacker was being viewed as a “suspected terrorist.”

At the time he was brandishing a weapon and threatened the officers. It was then that the police shot him dead.

Witnesses saw the man beheading his unidentified victim, who was also a man, in broad daylight near a school.

Officers rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised and saw the killer running towards Eragny.

At 7pm, the scene of the alleged murder and the scene where the killer was shot and killed had been sealed.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin “was on his way to the scene of the attack,” said a spokesman for his ministry, which also confirmed it as a terrorist investigation.

If confirmed to be related to terrorism, today’s incident would be the 33rd terrorist attack in France since 2017.

It follows an investigation into terrorism that began in Paris last month after two employees of a news agency were stabbed outside the former offices of Charlie Hebdo, the magazine where staff members were killed in 2015 after publishing cartoons mocking. of the Prophet.

The defendants are between 29 and 68 years old, and are tasked with providing logistics to the terrorists, including cash, weapons and vehicles.

Paris-born brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi murdered 12 people at Charlie Hebdo’s offices using Kalashnikovs, before escaping in a stolen car and later being killed by police.

A third terrorist, Amedy Coulibaly, shot dead four shoppers in a kosher supermarket and a policewoman during three days of carnage before he, too, was killed.

Charlie Hebdo now produces his magazine from a top-secret location, and in September he republished the controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, which had sparked outrage in the Muslim world.
