A man and a woman have been arrested in Dublin on suspicion of being involved in organized prostitution, the establishment of brothels and alleged crimes related to money laundering.

The man (40 years old) and the woman (20 years old) have been arrested as part of ongoing investigations being conducted by the Garda National Protective Services Bureau (GNPSB).

According to An Garda Síochána, the nature of the suspected crimes refers to their “victim-centered” approach to crimes related to “prostitution”.

Both are currently detained under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at a Garda station in Dublin.

Speaking about today’s arrests, GNPSB Detective Superintendent Declan Daly said: “These arrests are important in the ongoing investigations being conducted by the Garda Office of National Protective Services into alleged organized prostitution and the establishment of brothels throughout the jurisdiction.

“The investigations have culminated in the significant arrest of two people who are currently detained in accordance with legislation related to organized crime. The investigations in question reflect An Garda Síochána’s ‘victim-centered’ approach to addressing the criminality of the suspicious nature and his quest to keep people safe. “
