A man and a woman have been arrested as part of a garda investigation into prostitution and organized crime.
Gardai is investigating people suspected of being involved in organized prostitution, the establishment of brothels and alleged crimes related to money laundering.
The man and woman, aged between 40 and 20 respectively, are currently detained under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at a Garda station in Dublin.
The arrests were made by the Garda National Protective Services Bureau (GNPSB)
Detective Superintendent Declan Daly, GNPSB, said: “These arrests are important in the ongoing investigations being conducted by the Garda Office of National Protective Services into alleged organized prostitution and the establishment of brothels throughout the jurisdiction.
“The investigations have culminated in the significant arrests of two people who are currently detained in accordance with legislation related to organized crime.
“The investigations in question reflect An Garda Síochána’s ‘victim-centric’ approach to addressing criminality of the suspicious nature and its quest to keep people safe.”
