Two people have been arrested in an investigation into organized prostitution.
The Garda National Office for Protective Services targets individuals suspected of engaging in organized prostitution, the establishment of brothels and suspected money laundering offenses.
A man and a woman, aged 40 and 20 respectively, are being questioned at a Garda station in Dublin.
Detective Superintendent Declan Daly said: “These arrests are important in the ongoing investigations being conducted by the Garda Office of National Protective Services into alleged organized prostitution and the establishment of brothels throughout the jurisdiction.
“The investigations have culminated in the significant arrest of two people who are currently detained in accordance with the legislation related to organized crime.
“The investigations in question reflect An Garda Siochana’s victim-centered approach to addressing criminality of the suspicious nature and its quest to keep people safe.”
