THREE children, aged four, six and eight, died alongside their mother in a terrible accident on the A40 near Oxford.
Zoe Powell, 29, died with her two daughters, Phoebe, 8, and Amelia, 4, and her 6-year-old brother, Simeon, on the A40 near Oxford.
Her husband Josh, 30, and their 18-month-old baby are fighting for their lives in the hospital.
The family is from Chinnor in Oxfordshire.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and were horrified by the remains, police said.
Thames Valley police said a tragedy occurred when the family’s silver Subaru minivan and a truck collided near a rail bridge.
CRASH OF TERROR
Mrs. Powell and her three children were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the HGV, a 56-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
Thames Valley Police Sgt. Dominic Mahon said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation into this incredibly tragic incident that has resulted in the deaths of four people from the same family.
“The closest family members have been informed and are supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
“We will leave no stone unturned to determine what has caused this tragedy.”
‘ANNOYING SCENE’
The officer added that the emergency services have faced an “extremely disturbing scene.”
Sergeant Mahon said: “The thoughts of all of us at Thames Valley Police, along with our partners who have assisted at the scene or at the hospital, are with families at this incredibly difficult time.
“I would also like to pay tribute to our officers, first responders and medical professionals who dealt with this collision.
“Our officers and colleagues from the other emergency services were dealing with an extremely disturbing scene and I would like to thank them for the work they did during the night.
