Gardaí is asking for witnesses.
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Westmeath.
Shortly after 5 pm, emergency services were called into a collision with a motorcycle on the Mullingar Rochfortbridge road.
The motorcycle driver, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.
His motorcycle is known to have run off the road and hit a ditch.
Garda’s forensic collision investigators are currently examining the crash site, on the R400 in Gainstown, and there are local traffic diversions.
The man’s body has been transferred to Mullingar Hospital where arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination and the local coroner will be notified.
