Finish because Met Eireann has predicted that next week will be unusually cold for this time of year, however the rain will at least stay away.
Previous forecasts had suggested that some nights were expected to reach freezing conditions, but now it is not forecast to drop below 2 ° C.
Tuesday and Wednesday night will be the coldest of the week and lower temperatures of 2 ° C to 5 ° C are expected. Higher temperatures of 11C-14C during the day.
The last heavy rains are expected to wear off after today. Outbreaks of torrential rain are expected in the northwest on Monday and Tuesday, but these will ease in the morning.
A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “Some scattered showers linger in Ulster this morning, but mostly dry out elsewhere with sunny spells developing. However, clouds will gradually build up from the Atlantic during the afternoon, and rain and drizzle will reach the western shores later in the evening.
“Higher temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees, in a light breeze from the northwest or variable, increasing moderately to the south on the Atlantic coasts later.”
Heavy rains are expected tonight, especially in the west and southwest, with lower temperatures dropping four to six degrees early in the evening in the east with lows of seven to ten degrees elsewhere and generally becoming milder as as the night progresses.
“Any residual rain on the east coast will disappear early Monday morning to leave a bright and mostly dry day, with sunny spells developing,” the forecaster said.
“However, some scattered rains will continue to affect the north and west coasts. Higher temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees, with moderate to cool winds from the northwest.
“In general, a good amount of dry weather is developing during the week. Temperatures will remain fairly constant around normal or a little below.”
