The Premier League has issued a statement on the ‘harmful’ plans that were revealed on Sunday.
In wide-ranging proposals that the Daily telegraph To suggest it would be ‘the biggest shake-up in football in a generation’, the established Premier League elite have made an attempt to increase power.
Liverpool is said to be driving ‘Big Picture Project’ supported by Manchester United, while Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham are expected to offer their backing in due course.
But the Premier League has spoken out to emphasize the importance of clubs cooperating “through the right channels” to allow “all clubs and stakeholders to have the opportunity to contribute.”
It turns out that Leicester, Wolves, and most of the division aren’t overly in love with having absolutely nothing to say about almost anything.
“We have seen media reports today about a plan to restructure soccer in this country,” the statement read.
“English football is the most watched in the world and has a vibrant, dynamic and competitive league structure that generates interest from around the world. To maintain this position, it is important that we all work together. Both the Premier League and the FA support a broad discussion on the future of the game, including its competition structures, schedule and overall funding, particularly in light of the effects of COVID-19.
“Football has many stakeholders, so this work must be carried out through the right channels that allow all clubs and stakeholders the opportunity to contribute.
In the opinion of the Premier League, several of the individual proposals in the plan published today could have a detrimental impact on the entire game and we are disappointed to see that Rick Parry, president of the EFL, has given his record support.
‘The Premier League has been working in good faith with its clubs and the EFL to seek a resolution to the COVID-19 bailout funding requirement. This work will continue. ‘
