A man died after a horror truck accident on a quiet country road this afternoon.
The incident occurred on Curragha Road in Ratoath, Co Meath around 12pm on Saturday.
The man in his 50s was the only person in the truck at the time of the single-vehicle collision.
He was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he was later pronounced dead.
Officers investigating the incident are now asking for witnesses to come forward.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí is investigating a fatal single-vehicle traffic collision involving a truck that occurred on R155, Ratoath, Co Meath shortly before 12pm today, Saturday 10th October.
“A man in his 50s, the driver and sole occupant of the van was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he was pronounced dead.
“The road remains closed for a technical examination.
“Gardaí is asking anyone with information, particularly road users who may have camera footage, to contact the Garda Ashbourne station on 018 010 600, Garda’s confidential line on 1800 666 111 or with any Garda station “.
