LOI season extended due to Covid delays

The SSE Airtricity League has been extended for a week due to the recent Covid-19 outbreaks.

The First Division season will now conclude on Sunday, November 8, while the First Division season will conclude on Tuesday, October 27.

The decision to extend the 2020 season was ratified by the National League Executive Committee with the final rounds of both divisions postponed for purposes of competition integrity, with all games scheduled for the same date and time.

The two St Patrick’s Athletic games that were affected by the team’s 14-day isolation have been rescheduled.

Finn Harps v St Pat’s will be played on Wednesday, October 28, and the Saints’ clash with Dundalk will take place on Sunday, November 1.

The two Galway United matches that were affected by the coronavirus have also been rescheduled.

Galway United v Drogheda United will now be played on Tuesday, October 20 and Bray Wanderers v Galway United will be played on Saturday, October 24.

Dates have been scheduled for the FAI Extra.ie Cup quarter-finals.

All four matches will be in October and November due to Dundalk’s progression in the UEFA Europa League, November’s international window and promotion / relegation play-offs, with start times to be confirmed.

The promotion / relegation play-off series has also been rescheduled with the First Division play-off semifinals scheduled for Saturday, October 31, the First Division play-off final on Friday, November 6, and the promotion / final relegation of the play-off on Saturday, November 14.
