Ireland remains in a “dangerous situation” with Covid-19 as cases continue to rise across the country.
Another 617 cases were confirmed Friday night with two more deaths.
It brings the total number of infections here to 40,703 since the pandemic began.

Dr. Holohan’s Warning
Dr. Holohan has continuously emphasized that it is in the hands of the people to stop the spread of Covid-19 and placed a request on social media on Friday night.

The chief physician tweeted: “The disease profile continues to deteriorate. There have been 32 additional hospitalizations and 8 ICU admissions in the last 24 hours. We continue to see large numbers of daily cases.
“It is vital that we interrupt transmission of the virus now. NPHET continues to monitor the situation; however, it is early individual action that is needed to suppress # COVID-19 Follow public health advice and do your part to make an impact on the disease. ”
Worrisome hospital figures
The HSE has registered this morning more worrying hospital figures.
On Friday night there were 187 patients with confirmed Covid-19 cases in Irish hospitals.
This is the highest figure since May at the height of the pandemic.
And another 31 people were in intensive care and the situation was getting worse by the day.

HSE chief Paul Reid said: “Today and for the next two weeks, ask us, who do we really need to meet? Who can we defer the invitation to our house? If you happen to meet someone, avoid that desire to go. to chat.
“Take a step back. Difficult, yes. But it is to avoid having more people hospitalized or in the ICU.”
Lock update
The Government and NPHET have not publicly discussed a move to level five since the aftermath last Sunday and Monday.
But the Irish Mirror revealed on Thursday that plans are being put in place in case the country needs to move to a full lockdown in a few weeks.
