A young woman from Dublin has recounted her horror after an attempted attack from behind by a dangerous thug armed with two knives.

Fabiana Freitas was stopped at a traffic light in Finglas when the animal tried to get into her car before trying to break her window and threaten to stab her in the shocking attack.

The 20-year-old Portuguese woman, who lives in the north, has been traumatized since the crazed cutler approached her vehicle from behind at the traffic lights near Dunnes stores.

Scared for her life, the young woman fled the scene immediately and headed straight for the nearest Garda station, where she reported the terrifying incident.

She told Dublin Live: “I am a health care assistant, I do home care and I was going to my last home visit.

“I was stopped at the traffic light and a man comes behind my car pointing a knife at me.”

The armed attacker pointed one of the knives at the health assistant and tried to open her car, which was locked, before trying to break the window.

She continued: “He tried to get into my car and almost broke my window. When he did that, I left as fast as I could.

“If I hadn’t closed my doors, I don’t know what would have happened.

“There was no damage to the car, thankfully, but it has left me absolutely terrified of going out at night, especially if I’m driving.

Giving a description of the man, he said: “I would say he was around 5 foot 10, dark hair and armed with two knives and a school backpack.

“I gave the description of the individual to Gardai and they are also investigating it.”

“I gave such a good description to the guards, so I hope it ends well.

“I did a facial recognition process at Garda headquarters in Phoenix Park and they are planning to take DNA from my car.

“I think they also managed to see the man’s face on camera because he was right in the lights, so I hope they catch him.”

She warned locals: “I’ve gotten text messages from other people saying they’ve seen it too, so please be careful around everyone.”
