Biden’s team rejects Trump’s offer to delay debate

Joe Biden has rejected Donald Trump’s proposal to delay the two remaining debates in the wake of the president’s coronavirus diagnosis.

And the Democratic nominee says it is not up to President Trump to set the timetable for the high-profile showdown.

Biden’s deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield says the campaign had long agreed to discuss the dates of Sept. 29, Oct. 15, and Oct. 22.

Organizers of the debate said Thursday that next week’s event would be virtual because President Trump will have Covid-19.

His campaign then proposed that the event be postponed for a week, until October 22, and the third debate be held on October 29.

Biden’s camp says that President Trump’s “erratic behavior does not allow him to rewrite the calendar and choose new dates of his choice.”

Bedingfield said Biden is looking forward to the Oct. 22 debate, which he says is “tied for the last debate date in 40 years.”

The election is November 3.
