A popular hotel in East Cork announced that it is temporarily closing after a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Garryvoe Hotel confirmed the news tonight and said they were putting safety above all else.
The award-winning wedding venue made the difficult decision to temporarily close as of tomorrow.
In announcing the news on Facebook, they said they would be shutting down as a precautionary measure in the interests of the safety of staff and guests.
“To our team: we are a team here at Garryvoe and we have always cared for and supported each other in whatever way we can, we have stuck together and we will now.
“We will be back online very soon, so don’t worry, we will all be together sooner rather than later.
“To our guests: We would also like to thank you for your support, understanding and patience at this time. The HSE will direct us to follow all necessary protocols.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and we look forward to welcoming you back to East Cork & the Garryvoe Hotel very soon. Our reservations team will be at the hotel over the next few days for any booking inquiries.
“Kind regards, Stephen, Aidan and the entire team.”
This is the second Cork hotel to announce its temporary closure this week after The Kingsley in Cork City decided to close its doors for a short period as two staff members tested positive for the virus.
