This is the horrible moment violence broke out on Cork’s Patrick St on Thursday.
A man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the head on the city’s busiest street.
The incident is understood to have started after a man and a woman approached the victim outside the AIB bank.
The man apparently attacked him and cut off his head before fleeing to a taxi across the street.
The taxi closed the doors and the victim followed it before a fight broke out in the middle of the street.
The assailant then fled, while the victim later collapsed outside the Savoy, where two women rushed to try to help.
Emergency services rushed out onto the street and three crime scenes were sealed for forensic examination.
The victim was rushed to Cork University Hospital, where his injuries are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

A Garda spokeswoman confirmed the incident and said a technical review is underway.
She said: “Gardaí is currently at the scene of an incident on Patrick Street in Cork City. The incident occurred at approximately 3.45pm on Thursday 8th October 2020.
“A man, the details of which are currently unknown, has been taken to Cork University Hospital with what is believed to be serious injuries.
“The scene is currently being preserved for technical examination.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
There has been a strong reaction to the incident with Sinn Fein’s TD Thomas Gould calling for an increase in garda funding.
He said: “That this happened in broad daylight on the busiest street in the city will have shaken a lot of people.
“I have been asking the government to increase Garda funding for Cork City for far too long. It was only a matter of time before a serious incident like this occurred.
“We need a strong Garda presence on the streets of Cork City.
“Now there must be an immediate response to this incident. We need to see Gardai on the streets to ease people’s fears. People need to feel safe when arriving in Cork City. “
