A body was found washed ashore in the UK after a passenger disappeared while traveling on a ferry from Dublin to Holyhead.
The man, who was last seen around 4 p.m. Monday, was reported missing around 9 p.m. later that night.
A major search and rescue operation was launched off the coast of Wales, and local police confirmed the discovery of a body this morning.
Officers made the heartbreaking find at Ynys Y Fydlyn on Anglesey, where a local had raised the alarm.
The RNLI and local Coast Guard took the body to Holyhead Lifeboat Station before being transferred to Gwynedd Hospital, Bangor.
It is not yet known if the body is that of the missing man, but his family has been informed.
Chief Inspector Owain Llewellyn said: “We have been actively investigating a missing person investigation since 5 October, the circumstances of which relate to a man who was last seen aboard an Irish Ferries ship sailing between the port of Dublin and Holyhead.
