Met Eireann has said that the sun will finally return to Ireland as a big change is expected towards the end of this week.
It will stay wet with lots of rain on Thursdays and Fridays, and the rains in the west will spread across the country.
However, as we move into the weekend, conditions will start to improve, with plenty of sunny days on both Saturday and Sunday.
And that will continue into the next week, with a small amount of rain Sunday night clearing a “dry and settled” week.
A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “Thursday will be a cool day with sunny spells and scattered showers. Longer showers will move in the northwest areas at night. High temperatures of 11-14 degrees with cool winds from the west or northwest.
“A wet start to the day on Friday as the rain over Connacht spreads to the east. It will clear over the Irish Sea during the morning and afternoon, followed by showers.
“It will become mostly dry with sparkling spells in the evening, although the rains will continue in the northern and western areas. Higher temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with mostly light to moderate west breezes.
“The rains will remain limited to Ulster and Connacht early Friday night. Elsewhere it will continue to be dry with long periods and clear. Lower temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with a light breeze from the northwest.
“Mostly dry and bright day on Saturday with scattered light showers. Higher temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees with a light to moderate northwesterly breeze. Mostly clear and dry Saturday night with lower temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees.
“Another mostly dry day on Sunday. A bright start will give way to a more cloudy afternoon, but sunny spells will develop again into the evening. Higher temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees with a light breeze from the northwest or variable.
“Current indications suggest that the rain on Sunday night and Monday morning will clear through the day on Monday. It will become mostly dry and settle into the middle of next week, but will remain cool for the time of year. “.
