What an epic GAA action Sunday in Cork it was.
With Charleville and Nemo Rangers earning dramatic one-point victories in previous games streamed live on
, then followed by Blackrock rising to the top after a decisive SHC super Premier. And all that before the second semifinal of the Premier SFC went to penalties.Unlike previous games, extra time was required here to separate rivals from the city, but Blackrock’s performance ensured that a sudden-death shooting would not be needed.
“What an ending to see,” exclaimed the Bishop of the Church of Ireland, Dr. Paul Colton. “He had us on the edge of our seats and holding our breath,” he added, noting that the game “deserved a crowd,” referencing Pairc Ui Chaoimh’s bleachers largely empty due to Covid-19 restrictions.
What an ending to see. He had us on the edge of our seats and we held our breath. #GAABeo @OfficialCorkGAA Congratulations and well done @RockiesCork and commiserations @GlenRovers_ Thanks to both teams. It was a game that deserved a crowd, next time this # COVID-19 pass!

“Congratulations to everyone involved with Blackrock. Incredible things, it’s been too long,” he said, noting the 18-year wait for the Rockies between titles.
He wasn’t the only soccer player who tuned in to see the small ball.
League One Rochdale resident Corkman Eoghan O’Connell also expressed his joy at the result.
“What’s up the Rockies!”

Popular social media commentator Buff Egan described it as an “impressive” display of Southerners.
“To be fair, they showed big heart in the second half of normal time to come back after those three goals from Glen Rovers,” he said.
AWESOME display of Blackrock in overtime. In all fairness, they showed Mighty Heart in the second half of normal time to come back after those 3 goals from Glen Rovers. What a hurling game. Save the Rockies Cork Champs for the 33rd time

Despite finishing on the losing end, there was also praise for Patrick Horgan, the Glen Rovers and Cork sniper who hit 1-12 on his sides total.
“Patrick Horgan is on a completely different level,” noted one fan, adding another “it’s a blessing to see him.”
While ‘Hoggie’ garnered attention, there was also praise for Alan Connolly. The Blackrock forward hit 0-13 and was awarded TG4’s man of the match award.
“What a Blackrock performance, Alan Connolly is an operator,” said one fan so aptly.
