Four YELLOW STATUS weather advisories are in effect across the island of Ireland today, in what will be a rainy and windy day for many.
This morning, Met Éireann issued a new yellow status warning for 12 counties.
This warning will apply until 6 a.m. tomorrow and is in effect for Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
The forecaster said: “Today and tonight, persistent or heavy rains will total 25 to 40mm with highest amounts possible in mountainous areas. This can result in flooding of some rivers, as well as surface flooding. “
Last night, the UK Met Office issued a similar advisory for the counties of Northern Ireland.
These advisories are a continuation of the Status Yellow wind advisories issued yesterday.
A yellow state wind warning will apply for Donegal, Mayo and Sligo from 6 am to 9 pm today. This can bring average wind speeds of 50 to 65 km / h and gusts of 90 to 100 km / h.
Another Status Yellow wind warning for Galway, Clare and Kerry will go into effect from noon today and will last until 10pm. Similar wind speeds are expected.
