Given the growing number of Covid-19 cases in Limerick and the Midwest, the Health Service Executive is reiterating its messages on preventing the spread of Covid-19.

Previously, the National Public Health Emergency Team confirmed that 31 new confirmed cases were reported in Limerick this Saturday.

Public health physicians say the number of cases is clearly increasing across the region and everyone in the Midwest must remain vigilant to ensure the results of all the past months’ efforts do not unravel.

Dr. Anne Dee, a specialist in public health medicine, says that people across the region must redouble their efforts to prevent further spread and the introduction of tighter restrictions in the Midwest. (click the link above to listen).

Everyone must play their part by respecting public health guidelines.

• Avoid social situations whenever possible

• Avoid crowded situations

• Limit contact with others and maintain physical distance.

• Wear a mask

• Wash your hands well and often,

• Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing,

“This will not only prevent transmission of the virus, but will also protect the elderly and vulnerable and healthcare workers,” said Dr. Dee.
