Met Eireann issued three weather advisories for 14 counties due to dire conditions

Met Eireann updated its weather forecast and issued three separate advisories for the country.

14 counties are covered by the advisories and all three are yellow status alerts.

Most of the west coast will be battered by winds and heavy rains throughout Sunday as the Atlantic front advances.

Weather warnings for Sunday

Yellow Status – Wind Warning for Donegal, Mayo and Sligo

From 6am to 9pm on Sundays.

A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “Northwest winds strengthened on Sunday with average wind speeds of 50 to 65 km / h and gusts of 90 to 100 km / h.”

Yellow Status – Rain Warning for Kildare, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo

From 7am to 11pm on Sundays.

A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “Heavy and persistent rain on Sunday with totals of 25 to 40 mm expected, totals higher in mountainous areas. This may result in flooding of some rivers as well as surface flooding.”

Yellow Status – Wind Warning for Galway, Clare and Kerry

From 12 noon to 10 at night on Sunday.

A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “Northwest winds strengthened on Sunday with average wind speeds of 50 to 65 km / h and gusts of 90 to 100 km / h.”
