“Gardaí in Irishtown is asking for witnesses after a serious traffic collision on Northumberland Road, Dublin 4, on Friday 2 October 2020.

At approximately 10.45pm, the Gardaí and emergency services were notified of a collision involving a car and a bus (from Dublin) at the junction of Northumberland Road and Haddington Road.

The scene was attended by firefighters from Dublin, personnel from the Ambulance Service and Gardaí. A total of eight (8) people were taken by ambulance from the scene to the San Vicente University hospital, including the two occupants of the car. Of those taken to the hospital, it is understood that two bus passengers (both men) are in serious condition.

The scene of the collision is preserved for technical examination. The crossing is currently closed to traffic and detours are expected to remain in place for most of the day.

Gardaí in Irishtown is calling for witnesses to this collision to come forward. They are also attractive to those who may have camera footage (including dash cam) of the area at that time to make available to them.

As one of the vehicles involved had come to the Gardaí’s attention before the incident, the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) was notified.
