Melania Trump can be heard saying “give me a fucking break” as she talks about children separated from their parents at the US-Mexico border, in new leaked audio.

The First Lady’s former best friend, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, released audiotapes to CNN revealing details about a visit Trump had to an immigrant detention center in McAllen, Texas, in June 2018.

Wolkoff appeared on CNN with Anderson Cooper on Thursday and leaked the tapes online.

The former model can be heard expressing her frustration at being criticized for her husband’s policies, particularly the policy of dividing families illegally crossing the US-Mexico border.

He can also be heard venting about having to perform traditional first lady duties, such as decorating the White House for Christmas.

“I am an accomplice. I am the same as [President Trump]I support it, I do not say enough. I’m not doing enough, ”he can be heard saying on the call to Ms. Wolkoff.

“Where am I. I put – I’m working like a – my ass – on Christmas stuff that you know, who cares about Christmas things and decorations? But I have to, right?”

The First Lady later said she wishes she would be given a ‘damn rest’ after referencing the children being separated from their families at the border.

“Okay, and then I do. And I say that I’m working on Christmas planning for Christmas. And they said, ‘Oh, what about the children who were separated?’ “, He said.

“Give me a fucking break. Where were they saying something when Obama did that?”

President Donald Trump has previously claimed that his presidential predecessor, Barack Obama, is responsible for the policy of separating children from their parents at the border.

However, under Obama’s policy, children were only separated from their parents if there were concerns for their well-being, whereas it is now general policy.

In the call, Ms Trump says she believes it is “sad” that the children are being separated, yet she believes the children she met in these detention camps are happy to be in United States custody.

“All these children that I met were, they are here in the shelters because they were brought through ‘coyotes’, the people who trafficked, that’s why they were put in jail,” he said.

“And the kids who go to shelters. And the way they take care of them. It’s … you know, they even said, the kids, they said ‘Wow, did I have my own bed? I’ll sleep in the bed. Do you have a closet for my clothes?

“It’s very sad to hear it. But they didn’t have that in their own countries. They sleep on the ground. They take care of them.”

She added: “They could easily stay in Mexico but they don’t want to stay in Mexico because Mexico doesn’t take care of them like the United States.”

Speaking on CNN, Ms. Wolkoff said that the family does good things like going to the detention center to look good, and not out of the altruism of doing good deeds.

“Unfortunately, this administration and the people around them, and this family, are only doing things that benefit them rather than all these children and people who are hurting,” he said.

Speaking of a story about her visit that is unclear on the call, Ms Trump then says that the “liberal media” is “against her.”

“I can’t go. I was trying to get the child to meet the mother. I didn’t have the opportunity. He needs to go through the process and the law,” he said.

“They would not make history because they are against us, because they are liberal media,” he said.

“Yes, if I go to Fox, they will make history. I don’t want to go to Fox.”

In a statement to CNN, Melania’s chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, criticized Wolkoff for leaking the recording.

She said: “Secretly recording the First Lady and intentionally breaking an NDA to publish a lewd book is a clear attempt at relevance. The timing of this remains suspect, as does this endless exercise in self-pity and narcissism.”

Melania Trump’s former best friend published a revealing book on September 1, titled “Melania and I: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady.”
