US President Donald Trump confirmed that he and First Lady Melania tested positive for Covid-19, adding that they will begin the quarantine and recovery process “immediately.”
“We will get through this together,” Trump said in a tweet announcing the test result. The news was later confirmed in a letter from the president’s doctor.

The White House doctor confirmed that President Trump will carry out his duties “without interruption” during the quarantine that will take place “inside the White House.”
Both are “fine,” said Dr. Sean Conley. I hope the President continues to carry out his duties without interruption while he recovers. “
Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen tested negative for the virus, a spokesman said.

In a move that marks a new uneventful reality for President Trump, the administration removed a campaign trip to Florida today from Trump’s program.
He was scheduled to hold the event at Sanford Airport, but his new schedule only lists a phone call on “Covid-19 Support to Vulnerable Seniors.”

Earlier, Trump confirmed that both he and First Lady Melania Trump were in quarantine and awaiting coronavirus test results after a close aide tested positive for the virus.
White House aide Hope Hicks had been very close to Trump in recent days.
Ms. Hicks is the former White House communications director and is one of Donald Trump’s top advisers and closest aides.

He traveled with Trump multiple times this week, including aboard Marine One, the presidential helicopter, to a rally in Minnesota on Wednesday, and on Air Force One to Tuesday night’s first presidential debate in Ohio.
On Twitter, Donald Trump described Hope Hicks’ positive test result as “terrible.”
He said that he and the First Lady were awaiting the results of their own tests and that in the meantime they would be in quarantine.

Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity that it was difficult for him and his loved ones to avoid the virus, as many others, including members of the military, try to interact with them.
Trump said: “I just went out for a test, I guess he will come back later, and the First Lady also because we spent a lot of time with Hope.”
