Hello and welcome to tonight’s live blog.

Tonight is by far the biggest game an Irish club has played in in quite some time.

Dundalk enters the game knowing that a victory will allow them to reach the group stage of the Europa League and secure a minimum of € 2.9 million in prize money, and an additional € 500,000 for each subsequent victory.

However, it will not be easy. While the Lilywhites required penalty kicks to beat the Sheriff previously, KI earned a remarkable 6-1 win over Georgian team Dinamo Tbilisi in the final round.

The victory for Filippo Giovagnoli’s men would see an Irish team reach the group stage of the Europa League for the third time in the competition’s history, after Shamrock Rovers in 2011 and Dundalk in 2016.

The feat would also put Giovagnoli, whom most of Irish football would not have heard of before this season, in esteemed company, alongside Stephen Kenny and Michael O’Neill, who have seen their careers skyrocket since those respective accomplishments.
