Dozens of homes have been evacuated after a suspected explosive device was discovered in a garden in South Dublin this afternoon.
Gardai rushed to the scene after being alerted to the device in the Cushlawn area of Tallaght around 2:30 p.m.
Homes and the surrounding area have been evacuated while the Army’s Bomb Disposal Unit tends to the device.
A Garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live that investigations into the find are ongoing and houses remain evacuated at this time.
She said: “Gardaí is currently at the scene of an incident in the Cushlawn, Tallaght area, Dublin 24.
“A suspicious device was sighted in the area and Gardaí was alerted to the incident at approximately 2.30 pm. The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EOD) is attending to the device at this time.
“Local homes and surrounding areas have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Investigations are ongoing.”
