Pubs and other venues serving alcoholic beverages in Northern Ireland will have to receive the “last orders” before 10:30 pm, and customers must leave before 11pm, according to new rules announced by the First Minister Arlene Foster.
Ms Foster just announced the regulations in the Northern Ireland Assembly and they are designed “to protect you, to protect other people, to reduce the spread of infection,” she said.
The measures will align Northern Ireland’s licensed pubs and supermarkets, which can sell alcoholic beverages until 11pm.
Ms Foster noted in the Assembly that pubs in England, Wales and Scotland have been ordered to close at 10pm in recent days, under revised restrictions.
Arlene Foster said she hoped the closing time at 11 pm would still allow restaurants and hotels to have a “second session” for dinner.

Saying they “regret” having to announce further restrictions on the hospitality business, he said it is important “that we act appropriately” and protect the business, but put lives “at the forefront of our minds.”
