Five cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in one year at a school in North Dublin.

Several urgent letters were sent to parents at the high school informing them of the infections.

All cases were notified to parents and guardians during the last week.

The first incident was reported last Monday, while a second letter was sent on Thursday confirming another case.

And finally on Friday the school confirmed that three other children had tested positive.

Game-changing new swab test can detect Covid-19 in less than 20 minutes

It is understood that all the cases occurred in students of the same year.

The school remains open as usual for students who were not close contacts of the confirmed cases.

The latest letter reads: “A public health risk assessment has been conducted and parents of students who are considered close contacts of the confirmed case have been contacted and advised accordingly.

“If your child has not been notified as a close contact at this time, your child does not need a Covid-19 test, they can continue to attend school, and no further action is required at this time.”

Parents were also advised to closely monitor any children who might develop symptoms and to contact their GP for testing if necessary.
