An 11-year-old girl was rescued from a cliff ledge after slipping and falling in Co Down.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident when the young woman fell off the cliff edge at Ardglass Golf Club with a 100-foot drop below her.
Rescuers from Newcastle, Kilkeel and Portaferry Coastguard along with the Portaferry RNLI lifeboat were dispatched to the scene and Coast Guard officers installed rope rescue teams to successfully carry the girl to the top of the cliff to reunite with her family .
Coast Guard rescue officers returned a second time down the cliff to retrieve a member of the public who had attempted to climb from below to help the girl.
Medical assistance was not required.
Norman Bridges, at the Belfast Coast Guard Operations Center, said: “A member of the public reacted quickly to seeing the accident and did the right thing by immediately calling 999 for the Coast Guard and overall a great job of everyone involved.
“If you see someone in distress on shore, call 999 and ask for the Coast Guard.”
