A farmer stole the show on day three of the Irish Open by watching action from a neighboring field among his cows.

He looked perfectly pleased to have secured a perfect viewing position at the closed-door event at Galgorm Castle.

Unfortunately, while he has an ideal spectator vision, there isn’t much Irish turnout to cheer on over the weekend.

Both Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry missed the cut after finishing with five and seven, respectively.

Subsequently, 2009 champion Lowry admitted he was disappointed as it weakens the buzz surrounding the tournament.

He told RTE: “I am very disappointed to be coming home. I hate missing the cut at the Irish Open.

“I want to do well and be here for the weekend.

“It’s not great for the tournament that Paddy and I are going home, but I did my best and that’s all I can do.”

Harrington added: “It’s a shame, it seems there will be too many.

“I played a lot better, I didn’t take my chances at the beginning and then I had some swirling winds and I couldn’t very well.

“So I played much better than the scoreboard, but these things happen.”

However, fan James Sugrue is putting on a great display as he is the best of the Irish in a tie for 29th right now in two more.

Colm Moriarty and Mark Power are down again to 6, while Damien McGrane just got through the weekend before fighting today.

Aaron Rai, Jazz Janewattananond and Maverick Antcliff currently share the lead at seven under par with Janewattananond who has really made a mo (o) vo today as he is five under par on 14 holes.
