Shotgun seized and two men arrested after garda chase in North Dublin

A shotgun has been seized and two men have been arrested after being pursued by Gardaí in Co Dublin last night.

As a result of an intelligence-led operation as part of Drogheda’s Operation Stratus, the Gardaí attempted to stop a vehicle in the Pinewood Green area of ​​Balbriggan around 6 p.m.

The two male occupants of the vehicle did not comply with the gardaí and attempted to reverse at high speed in an attempt to flee the scene.

The two men abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Both were pursued on foot by Gardaí and arrested after being spotted in bushes near Castleland Park View, Balbriggan.

The vehicle was seized by Gardaí for technical examination.

During the examination, a sawed-off Beretta shotgun and six shotgun shells were recovered and seized.

These seized items will be sent to the ballistics unit for analysis.

The two men, between the ages of 20 and 30, are currently being held at Swords and Balbriggan Garda stations pursuant to section 30 of the Crimes Against the State Act of 1939.
