A garda investigation is underway after a man’s body was found on a road in Co Meath.

The shocking discovery was made around 2.50 a.m. M., when the gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene on the N51 in Harmanstown, Slane.

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was riding a scooter.

Since then, the road has been closed for a full technical examination, which will ultimately determine the course of the investigation.

Some initial reports suggest that the incident was a hit and run.

Gardai says they are treating it as a “possible traffic collision” and are asking for witnesses to appear.
