Conor McGregor has dropped his latest hint about a return to wrestling by stating that his next fight will be against boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.
The former two-weight UFC champion also claims the fight will take place in “the Middle East,” but does not specify where.
McGregor took to Twitter tonight to share screenshots of the Instagram conversations between him and Dana White, where the two talked about possible fighting opponents.
And in a follow-up half an hour later, Crumlin’s man said there was a fight with Pacquiao.
He tweeted: “Anyway, all the water under the bridge who gives a shit.
“I’m going to box Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East.”
McGregor posted the original screenshots in response to a call from veteran Diego Sanchez, who said he wanted his retirement fight to be against Notorious.
He also revealed that he had been pushing a lot for his own fights for 2020, but was turned down and kept awaiting the return of viewers to the UFC fights.
The screenshots are from February 2020, before McGregor announced his retirement from MMA in June.
“For Diego Sánchez … I saw your recent comments on your final fight and I’m in!” he said.
“After you fought Pereira, I asked you to compete in Dublin for me and yourself.
“This was in February when I was working in opposition for my season, pre covid.
“Good luck this weekend!
“Here’s the end of that exchange. Pre COVID. Pre-retirement. I never turned down Tony’s offer as suggested at the time.
“I said months in advance (early February) that I was not interested in being a backup for two consistent recalls. I pushed for my own scheduled bouts.
“I was pushing a lot for the season.
“Multiple opponents, multiple dates offered at all times. Everything will take place one after another.
“Then when COVID came along and there was talk that I would have to wait for crowds again, I walked away from the situation.
“I’ve been waiting long enough at that stage.”
