Irish music duo Jedward have caused a storm in recent months with their recent popularity on Twitter.
While the twins first rose to fame for their appearance on the reality show X Factor and their subsequent music career, they have since come into the limelight for their social media presence.
The couple have received high praise for promoting safe messages about the coronavirus while taking on people for promoting misinformation.
And both John and Edward sat down with Ryan Tubridy on this week’s Late Late Show, where they discussed the pandemic and the tragic death of their mother.
Reinforcing his message on the hit chat show, John said: I felt there was so much misleading information online.
“You had figures that people looked up to going into their social platform and making these statements and I feel like I was pitching people in and we just felt like we had to go out and have their say.
Edward added that people should “wear your mask. People are dying, people have died, people have not been able to go to funerals.”
“Change your habits, educate yourself, there are no conspiracies.”
The couple also spoke about how the pandemic has affected them emotionally and how many people are battling the chaos of the virus.
And talking about their mother’s death, they told Ryan “our mother always wanted us to go out and express ourselves in whatever way we were and we would support each other.”
“It is very difficult to think that he will not be at our wedding, that he will not be there for the birth of our children, but we always keep his spirit alive.
After chatting with them, they also performed an emotional cover of REM’s hit ‘Everybody Hurts’ that got a lot of people talking.
Viewers on social media were quick to praise the couple who made a huge impression on Friday night’s show.
One wrote: “You guys spoke very well on the Late Late Show and also made a beautiful cover. I send you all my love.
Another said, “It was a pleasure hearing you speak and perform! What amazing and genuine young people!”
A third said: Brilliant interview from @planetjedward thank you for your honesty and positivity ”
While a fourth added: What good men make the country proud!
