A LUCKY punter in Kilkenny has woken up 5 million euros richer after winning last night’s mega Lotto jackpot.
Lottery players across the county have been on high alert this morning after the National Lottery announced that the winner of the € 5,395,798 jackpot purchased his ticket at a Kilkenny store.
The National Lottery is encouraging all of its lottery players in Kilkenny to check their tickets to see if they have won the grand prize.
This latest lottery win is the 10th jackpot win so far in 2020 with nearly € 50 million won in jackpot prizes alone.
A spokesperson for the National Lottery said it will reveal the name of the winning store in the coming days.
‘LIFE CHANGE’
They said: “As always with multi-million dollar jackpots, it is important that we inform the winning retailer and of course that we give the winning ticket holder the time and space they need to allow this 5.3 million euro win. that changes your life to sink.
“Last night’s drawing produced more than 77,000 winners nationwide, so we asked everyone who purchased a ticket for last night’s lottery drawings to check out those tickets, especially if you played in Co. Kilkenny.”
The winning lottery numbers last night were 02, 05, 07, 29, 38, 42, while the bonus number was 27.
The spokesperson added: “We advise the winner of this award to do everything possible to remain calm and be sure to sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place.
‘COLLECT YOUR PRIZE’
“The winner can contact the National Lottery’s prize claims team at 1800 666 222 or send an email to [email protected] and we will arrange for them to collect their prize.”
This is the 25th lottery jackpot to be won in Kilkenny since lottery play began in 1988.
These 25 jackpots total more than 34.7 million euros.
So far this year, more than 100 million euros in prizes have been won in the Lotto game which includes 16 new millionaires that have been created in the Lotto and Lotto Plus games.
Meanwhile, another Dublin Lotto player matched five numbers and the bonus ball, just one number away from sharing the € 5.3 million prize pool.
However, this lucky Dubliner has won € 198,258.
This player bought his Quick Pick ticket yesterday at Massford Newsagency at the Mill Shopping Center, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.
