Gardai seizes huge € 3.5m cocaine loot and arrests man in Swords, Dublin

Gardai today seized a large quantity of cocaine worth 3.5 million euros and arrested a 33-year-old man in County Dublin.

Officers from the Garda National Drugs and Organized Crime Office (GNDOCB) swooped down on a premises in Swords as part of an operation targeting organized crime.

They discovered a large quantity of suspicious cocaine (subject to analysis), with an estimated street value of 3.5 million euros.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and is currently in custody under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at Swords Garda Station.

Speaking today, Deputy Commissioner John O’Driscoll, who heads Serious and Organized Crime, said: “The involvement of various sections within An Garda Síochána with the assistance provided by the Customs Revenue Service in this operation, has resulted in another significant seizure of a substance believed to be cocaine, preventing further damage to our communities. “
